"What in the gods green hills is a Raulwicke?"
Not an uncommon question in my line of work. One that is usually asked after another question I am all to familiar with. The exchange usually goes like this:
That's usually when the fighting starts. I've always been fairly deft with a blade and light on my feet. My uncle Horus says I would have made a damn good thief. But, that was not the path I chose. I wanted to be a bard, an adventurer, a teller of tales and a singer of legends. It is family tradition that each man of our ilk take a name whenever they come of age. The family name of Ya is always present, whether it be in title such as myself (my official name is Raulwicke the Legendsinger of the House of Ya. A mouthful, I know. I tend to steer away from it) or as part of the taken name itself such as my cousin Yogi. I'm sorry Yogiya. How dreadfully original.
Ah yes. I've traveled the world. Well, worlds. I'm not of this land you see. I'm from a land where dragons, dwarves, gnomes, and even Gods walk the land taking part of each others lives as freely as you and I do. But I don't talk about that. At least, not in a way that anyone believes. I do tell that I served with Kings and Heroes. A dear friend of mine was a Prince of nine realms named Estel. I abandoned that party once he began to settle for the courtly life. Estel was and is a dear friend and he offered me a place at his table whenever I passed through. He's probably dead by now. Time has a way of not lining up correctly when traveling.
By my approximations I have been traveling for over a hundred Elyrian years. But to me it has been almost ten. Don't let my life confuse you. It rarely has any part in the world that I have decided to settle in. I merely inform you about my past because it influences my future. I search the worlds for Legends. I look to travel (I am a bard after all) but in my time I have found a handful of good and just men and women to join up with for a time and chronicle their adventures. I then bring these adventures to those who need to be inspired. My past is an interesting one. But it hardly matters because I'm here now.
I've wandered here because I felt the pull of that very kind of hero who I have made my friend in the past. I think I'll stay awhile, see how that pans out.
Oh. And it doens't hurt that I was invited...

"Excuse me sir. Does your mother know that she bred a mouth breathing troll that is both a waste of space and precious oxygen?"
"What the unholy fires is that suppose to mean?"
"My apologies. My mistake for thinking that a woman who spends so much time upside down would be able to think with any clarity."
"Who the bloody fields of Elyria are you?"
"Raulwicke Legendsinger, at your service!"
